![]() ![]() If it was that simple, then to compare dds to claws, you would double the max hit of dds, since they cost half the spec of claws, giving them an adjusted max hit of around 180, making them by far the best spec weapon in the game. So you can't just scale the 110 back by 25% to bring the spec cost in line with claws to compare them. How strong a DPS special attack is, isn't just based on how much damage it does - it's how much damage it does, compared to your standard attack. You need to compare to the average hit.Įven after fixing your numbers (82.5 to 73.3, and comparing that to the claws average rather than max) - that still isn't a correct comparison. You're comparing 110 to the claws max hit, but that makes no sense as the 110 is guaranteed if it passes the accuracy roll, while claws are not guaranteed to max hit. So your number of 82.5 isn't correct, it would really be 73.3. 50 to 75 is multiplying by 1.5, AKA adding 50%. The spec cost is 25% more in nominal percentage points, but it's 50% more than the actual cost of claws. Whether ZCB spec is better or worse than dclaw spec depends on the defence of the boss. The ZCB barely wins out over the other two options at vorkath, though note that that is mostly due to the high defence vorkath has. So after doing some calcs for vorkath with melee setup BGS > dclaws. It takes 150 seconds to regen 50% so for vorkath you'll spec once with zcb or twice with dclaws. The expected dmg on a dclaw spec is 48 dmg (which you can use twice), while the expected damage for a zcb spec is 87.5. Specifically for vorkath if comparing damage of dclaws with melee setup vs zcb with range setup. Also by the time youve regenerated enough spec for your second spec, you could also dclaw again. Claws also have a mechanic that makes the spec very consistent damage (though not consistent at the max hit).Īs for getting off 2 ruby bolt specs, the mechanics of ruby bolts make it so that the second spec is likely not gonna do alot of dmg (depending on the boss ofc). Yea sure if youre bringing range gear and no melee gear, or the boss is specifically weak to range id assume that this is better than claws, though in general claws are probably usually more dps. It implies that it will be a crossbow that is a usable alternative to other ranged weapons (which it is not). To me this implies that the weapon is not meant to be just a ranged spec weapon. We look forward to seeing how this will shake things up!" " We heard your suggestions that crossbows haven't had enough love lately, introducing this new T80 crossbow should make them a stronger and more appealing option. Im not saying the spec wont be usefull, it seems pretty strong. It also has a slightly different overkill DPS calculator that takes bolt procs into consideration. As far as I can tell you will use this cbow nowhere in game, except if for some reason you need a ranged spec weapon.ĭisclaimer for the graph: I use a slightly altered version of Bitterkoekjes DPS calculator, which properly takes into account the damage of ruby bolt specs over the entire range of an npc hp. While the added damage on special attacks makes it so that the zaryte cbow is not a negligible upgrade over the arma cbow (+ 2-4%), its not nearly enough to put cbows in line with other range equipment of similar lvls. All calcs where done based on BIS gear (so full arma or crystal) with the cbows using ruby bolts. And to further illustrate how bad cbows are in general I also added the fbow the the plot. The main point is to compare the DPS of the arma cbow to the zaryte cbow, but to emphasize this I also added the dragon crossbow to the plot. To illustrate this Ive done a few DPS calculations for bosses where you could reasonably use a cbow. However, Jagex does not seem to understand that if you dont add range strength to a cbow, upgrading it only increases dps if you can use a higher tier of bolt. With the updated nex reward blog Jagex proposed the zaryte crossbow, instead of the zaryte bow. For more information about account bans, click here. Feel like sharing?
